We have seen a recent surge in interest in greenhouse gas emissions from reservoirs. The first information webinar for the Methane Measurement in Reservoirs project received a wonderful turnout last month, with almost 100 reservoir stakeholders from around the world in attendance. This was truly a brilliant kick off to a world first decentralised measuring programme, and a strong indication that stakeholders care about understanding their greenhouse gas emissions.
A partnership between the International Hydropower Association (IHA), Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM) and Bluemethane, with funding from the Global Methane Hub, this project is offering a complimentary greenhouse gas (carbon dioxide and methane) measuring service to twenty lucky reservoirs. Want to know you reservoir emissions? There is still time to register for this project.
The Methane Measurement in Reservoirs project is a first-of-its-kind venture that will close the knowledge gap, improve emissions reporting and mitigation, and drive impactful climate action. This opportunity is perfect for industry leaders and hydropower operators seeking to improve their knowledge on greenhouse gas emissions.
The webinar last month was a clear demonstration of how important the issue of methane emissions from water is, and it is energising to see awareness of this issue snowballing. A huge thank you to Sara Mercier-Blais and Katherine Velghe of UQAM, Debbie Gray of IHA, and Bluemethane’s own Eliana Bohórquez Bedoya, for hosting such a great webinar. We are excited to see what this project can achieve.
Have you registered for the Methane Measurement in Reservoirs project yet? Places are filling up! Don’t miss your chance to be one of twenty selected reservoirs to receive our complimentary greenhouse gas measuring service and demonstrate industry leadership.
