Tackling the climate challenge will not happen by itself. It needs innovative technologies and innovative financing…and plenty of both. Considerable private investment is being channelled towards climate finance. But not enough.
New financial incentives are needed to shift the tide of private investments towards climate-focused projects. Thankfully, around the world, new financial innovations are being dreamed up and piloted to do just that.
At (together with Open Hydro) we’re privileged to be involved in the creation of one of these financial innovations. And we’re lucky enough to be supported by The Global Innovation Lab for Climate Finance who are working on so many other ideas to attract private investment across agriculture, energy efficiency, renewable energy, sustainable transport, climate smart agriculture, and curbing deforestation.
I remain an optimist. We can fix this.
